The race in Montreal came to an early end for George Russell when his Mercedes W17 failed in lap 39. The Mercedes driver was leading the race at that moment and watched from the paddock as teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli ultimately took the victory. Martin Brundle – who himself participated in 165 Grands Prix – could enjoy the battle between the Mercedes drivers.

“At this moment, there is no difference between Russell and Kimi Antonelli,” concludes Brundle in his column for Sky F1. “Experience and wisdom seem to perfectly combine with unbridled speed and enthusiasm, and that’s why they keep coming together in the middle of a corner. I have experienced it myself.”
