Toto Wolff also calls for regulatory changes after the Australian GP. The Austrian previously reprimanded all critical drivers after the race in Melbourne, stating that the interests of F1 fans should come first. Nevertheless, in the run-up to the Chinese GP, Wolff says that some ‘things need to be adjusted and improved’ in the regulations. ‘But that is a normal part of the process and it is important that we listen to the fans,’ he repeats.

“But that is a normal part of the process. It is important that we listen to the fans and understand what is important to them,” Wolff repeats his earlier statements. According to the Austrian, the interests of fans must come first. “There was plenty of racing and the drivers were challenged to get the maximum out of their cars. As the teams gain more knowledge and the field gets closer together, I am convinced that it will only get better.”

‘Battle at the front with Ferrari’
Mercedes at least had a flying start with the first victory in the bag. Furthermore, the team learned a lot from the challenges that the Australian race weekend offered. In Shanghai, however, a new challenge awaits Formula 1 in the form of a sprint weekend. “Since there will only be one hour of free practice, it will be even harder to get the car in good condition for the first competitive session,” Wolff thinks. “We saw an exciting battle at the front with Ferrari last weekend. But also with several other teams that had not shown their full potential before. We know that a real battle awaits us. Hopefully, as a sport, we can put on a great show again this weekend.”
