Daniel Juncadella drove one last honorary lap on Sunday afternoon on behalf of Verstappen Racing in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. The team of the Dutch F1 driver was on course for a long time to win the endurance classic, but dropped out of the race with just under three hours to go. The Winward mechanics managed to repair the car for a final lap around the circuit, with Juncadella behind the wheel.

While sister team RAVENOL crossed the finish line first after twenty-four hours of racing, Juncadella still drove one last lap around the 25-kilometer circuit. The Spaniard had already confirmed earlier that the team would at least reach the finish flag.

Partly due to the overtaking maneuvers of teammate Max Verstappen – who had an astonishing pace during his first 24-hour race – the team had a long view of victory. However, in his third stint, Juncadella encountered a broken driveshaft and had to guide the #3 Mercedes back to the pit lane.
