Max Verstappen’s number one mechanic, Matt Caller, has officially said goodbye to the Red Bull team. The British mechanic was part of the technical staff surrounding the world champion, witnessing firsthand how the Dutchman won world titles. ‘What an adventure it has been,’ Caller reflects on his time at Red Bull before starting his role as chief mechanic at Audi.

Last October, news already broke that Matt Caller, Max Verstappen’s number one mechanic, would be leaving Red Bull. The Brit only started working with the technical staff around the four-time world champion in 2024. He is now leaving the Austrians for a position as chief mechanic at Audi. Thursday, March 12, was Caller’s last day at Red Bull. Through an extensive post on his Instagram page, he thanked the Austrian racing team.
“After an incredible journey that began in 2015, today is my last day at Red Bull Racing,” the mechanic begins. “What an adventure it has been. From the very first day I walked in here to my role in a team that constantly pushes the boundaries of performance, innovation, and teamwork. The past decade has been truly unforgettable.”

World Championships and records
Caller was there when Verstappen won his four world titles between 2021 and 2024. “During my time at Red Bull, I have been fortunate enough to contribute to multiple world championships, various DHL Fastest Pit Stop awards, and to be part of pit crews that set world records for pit stops,” the Brit continues. “These achievements reflect the unwavering dedication, precision, and teamwork of everyone involved.
Verstappen’s now-former mechanic adds: “I have had the privilege of working with some of the most talented, dedicated, and passionate people in motorsport. I am incredibly grateful for every moment we shared. The experiences, challenges, victories, and lessons along the way will stay with me forever. It has been nothing short of amazing to be part of this journey.” Caller then thanks his former employer. “I am proud to have been part of the team. Now I look forward to starting a new chapter and joining the Audi F1 Team as chief mechanic. I look forward to the challenge ahead and to helping build something new at Audi. On to the next chapter.”
