Max Verstappen also completed the second qualifying session at the Nürburgring. On Thursday, the first sessions on the German asphalt were scheduled as preparation for the 24-hour classic next weekend. The second qualifying session for Verstappen and his team – competing in the top class – was mainly about test driving; nevertheless, the session produced spectacular images, partly because Verstappen drove in the dark.
Although the qualifying lasted a total of 3.5 hours, Verstappen only really got into action when less than an hour was left on the clock. Earlier, he had already cautiously ventured onto the asphalt, but due to the sudden rainfall, he quickly called it a day. Towards the end of the session, he still completed some test laps; while the rain poured down heavily, Verstappen braved the darkness on The Green Hell for the first time.

Under the soaking wet conditions, the lap times from the first session were not improved. Team Ravenol, also active with a Mercedes-AMG GT3, retained the fastest time of 8:14.957. Verstappen Racing followed in third place, 3.5 seconds behind. On Friday at 10:15 AM, the first top qualifying session begins, in which Verstappen’s team will indeed compete for the best starting positions.
