René Lammers ready for Eurocup-3 debut: ‘Kept myself sharp’

René Lammers is set to make his Eurocup-3 debut this weekend at the Paul Ricard circuit. The Dutchman is starting his first full season in the championship after a strong winter, in which he won the rookie title and finished third in the E3 Spanish Winter Championship. With that, he travels with confidence to the opening round in France. “I have been busy keeping myself sharp,” said Lammers.

René Lammers travels with a title in hand and confidence to Paul Ricard to make his debut in Eurocup-3 – a stepping stone to Formula 3. This lays a solid foundation for his debut season in this class. The 17-year-old from Zandvoort has not been idle between the winter championship – E3 Spanish Winter Championship – and now. “I have been working on keeping myself sharp. I have spent a lot of time on the simulator and also trained a lot. School is also part of it, but hopefully I can finish my final exams well next month,” Lammers said in a press release.

‘Good steps forward’

According to Lammers, the focus in recent months was mainly on further development of the car. Together with MP Motorsport, he worked in Barcelona during testing on both the car setup and his own progress behind the wheel. “We have learned many new things about the car together. I get better every day as I do more laps, but the team has also gained new insights. We have been able to make good progress,” emphasized the young driver.

His goal for Eurocup-3 is to get the best out of himself. For Lammers, the rookie title was a confidence boost, but the mindset remains the same. “In every qualifying session and every race, get the maximum out of it. I have enormous confidence in MP Motorsport as a team, and that means races will be won,” said Lammers.

‘Pretty cool’

The opening round of the championship at Paul Ricard is not unfamiliar territory for Lammers. He has already raced on this track in earlier classes, which could help him. “After two previous visits with the Spanish F4 championship in 2024 and 2025, it is a familiar track for me. The circuit itself is not that special, but a fast lap is always pretty cool,” he said.

With eight race weekends on the calendar, including circuits like Imola, Monza, and Silverstone, Lammers still faces a lot of unknown tracks. He does not know most of the tracks yet, but he does not see that as a problem. “The circuit I am most looking forward to is the new Madring near Madrid. That will be a new track for everyone, but for me also the first time on a street circuit,” Lammers concluded.
