Jack Doohan was a Formula 1 driver for the Alpine team for seven Grand Prix weekends in 2025. Until he had to make way for Franco Colapinto for the Emilia-Romagna GP. In the latest season of Netflix’s docuseries Drive To Survive, the Australian makes a shocking revelation about his time in the premier class. For instance, Doohan faced death threats prior to the Miami GP, his final race in Formula 1.

“I received six or seven emails stating that if I was still in the car during the Miami GP, all my limbs would be cut off,” Doohan says. “People said they were going to kill me here if I didn’t get out of the car.” In a subsequent scene in the episode ‘Strictly Business’, the Australian further explains: “I was (in Miami, ed.) with my girlfriend and my trainer, and I got three armed men (as security guards, ed.). I had to call my police escort to come and get the situation under control. That is certainly not the most fun way to race.”
