Lewis Hamilton is having a strong season with his first two podiums for Ferrari in the last two races. The Brit, who has not yet given up on an eighth world title, believes that much beauty is still possible and points to several factors behind his resurgence.

Lewis Hamilton is feeling good. Last week, the Brit took second place in the drivers’ championship from his former teammate George Russell, and yesterday he qualified second for the Spanish Grand Prix. “I’m fitter, I’m healthier, and personally I’m in a better place,” he told Sky Sports F1. “I started this season with a much more positive mindset. I would even say my attitude is better than at the start of last year.”
After four years of struggling with the ground effect era cars, Hamilton seems to be coping better this season with the new aerodynamic regulations around the bodywork. “I’m driving a car that I’ve helped develop, unlike last year when I inherited a car I had nothing to do with, and it’s a new era that I just prefer,” he says about it. “So it’s a combination of things, and I’m also just happy in my life, experience really helps of course, and you might hear from some of your colleagues that they haven’t won a world championship, and there’s a reason why they haven’t won a world championship, and there’s a reason why I have seven.”
Hamilton: “I know what it takes to make a team win, and I know many people I work with know what it takes to have won championships in the past, and my sole goal is to help them and me get to where we ultimately are. I truly believe we can get and deserve to be.”

Magical Place
With his form, Hamilton silences the critics. For example, former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone regularly called the collaboration between the seven-time world champion and Ferrari a ‘financial marketing project’ last season.
Hamilton, who has not yet given up on an eighth world title, says that he and Ferrari are on the right track to achieve their common goals and believes that beautiful things can emerge. “My approach is full attack, full commitment and constantly trying to stimulate the team and push them in the right direction,” he says. “If we all row with the same strength in the same direction, I think we can reach a magical place together.”
