George Russell starts the Monaco Grand Prix from sixth position. The Brit looks at a gap of four tenths to his teammate Kimi Antonelli, who secured pole position. Russell – who was performing well alongside Antonelli at the start of the season – doesn’t quite understand where he’s losing out. “At the beginning of the season, I was in first or second place after every lap,” said Russell.

George Russell qualified sixth for the race in Monaco. He doesn’t quite know where he lost out exactly, but he does see that changes are needed to close the gap. “It’s been like this for a while now. At the beginning of the season, I was in first or second place after every lap. And now I’m nowhere and I don’t have confidence in the car. The car feels different and I’m struggling to get anything out of it. So I don’t have the answers yet,” Russell said in the paddock in Monaco.

Nevertheless, Russell realizes that it mainly comes down to driving style. “Last year the car suited my driving style better, and this year it suits his (Antonelli, ed.) better. I need to make some changes to my driving style or we need to develop the car in a way that helps me. I still don’t have the answers, but at the beginning of the year it was easier than it is now,” said Russell.
