GP Las Vegas remains a fixture on the F1 calendar, set until 2037

Formula 1 has extended the contract for the Las Vegas GP. The race, for which FOM itself is the promoter, will remain on the calendar until 2037. This gives the impressive street circuit around the world-famous Strip an extension of no less than ten years. The race made its debut in 2023 and has since grown into one of the most talked-about events on the calendar.

In addition to its sporting appeal, the event also has a significant economic impact. In its first three editions, the Grand Prix reportedly generated 3.2 billion dollars for Southern Nevada, according to the organization. The 2025 race alone generated 43 million dollars in state and local tax revenue. The new agreement replaces the previous contract, which, according to insiders, included an option to extend the race until 2032.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali reacted with delight to the announcement. “We are extremely pleased that Formula 1 will continue to race in Las Vegas for many years to come,” said the Italian. “Since its first edition in 2023, the event has been extraordinary and has rapidly developed into a top destination for spectacular races, world-class entertainment, international business leaders, celebrities, and influencers. It has also had a lasting impact on both the local economy and the community. We have always believed that Las Vegas would become a cornerstone of our presence in the United States. This extension, combined with the success of recent years, underscores our long-term commitment to this important market.”

Although the Las Vegas GP has become a fixture on the calendar since 2023, the event remains controversial. Critics point to the sky-high ticket prices, months of inconvenience for residents, and the fact that the spectacle sometimes seems more important than the race itself. FOM’s flagship event is considered the epitome of the opulence often associated with the premier class. Not to mention the manhole cover incident during the inaugural edition. During FP1, Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari was severely damaged by a loose manhole cover. The session was almost immediately halted, leading to much negative international publicity.
