Monaco is home for Verstappen, as it is for Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton, Carlos Sainz, Oliver Bearman, and Esteban Ocon, among others. But actually driving past his own home is quite bizarre for Verstappen, who has already moved within the principality.
Hence the Dutchman’s quip when it comes up on Thursday that he can then wave home. Should Verstappen hit the wall nearby, he could even walk home. Not a good idea, he knows. Although he is extremely satisfied with Monaco as a place of residence.

“It’s safe here, the people are nice, there’s a good quality of life, everything is close by, and so is the airport. And it’s good for the children,” said Verstappen. So maybe just wave after all? “I think it’s better to keep the car under control,” is his smiling suggestion.
